What is SCIT?

SCIT (Secure Clinical Image Transfer) is a secure platform that lets authorised NHS staff safely capture and send patient images and clinical data directly from their mobile devices — without storing any sensitive data on the device itself. Photos and records are encrypted and uploaded immediately to the hospital’s secure image management system, ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with clinical and data-protection policies.

Using SCIT helps streamline care by giving clinicians fast, reliable access to diagnostic photographs and patient records from within the hospital’s clinical portal. As soon as an image is taken and submitted, it becomes available to other authorised staff — improving communication, speeding up clinical decisions, and reducing the need for repeated photography or paper-based record keeping.
